Deals with the safety of electric fans for household and similar purposes. Examples are ceiling, table and pedestal fans. This standard replaces EN 60342-1: 1981 and its amendment 1 (1982) and EN 60342-3: 1982. This standard however, in general, does not take into account the use of appliances by - persons (including children) whose * physical, sensory or mental capabilities; or * lack of experience and knowledge prevent them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction; - children playing with the appliance.
