PURPOSE. This NPG describes NASA policy and procedures for requesting critical position pay authority from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and exercise of this authority after it has been granted by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

APPLICABILITY. This NPG applies to employees in Senior Executive Services (SES) and Senior Scientific and Technical (SST) positions at NASA Headquarters and NASA Centers, including Component Facilities, except the Office of Inspector General.
