PURPOSE. This Occupational Health Program NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) prescribes the responsibilities and procedures to implement specific Federal Regulations concerning workplace injuries and illnesses. This NPR also establishes procedures for medical evaluation of NASA employees who are off work (i.e., not reporting for regular duty assignments) and are receiving medical benefits and compensation for illness and or injury from the Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP). This NPG further establishes, in conjunction with the Office of Human Resources and Education, procedures for permitting limited-duty work in the employee's previous position, or finding other work assignments based on medical evaluations and limitations.
APPLICABILITY. a. This NPR applies to a NASA Federal Civil Service employee of NASA Headquarters and all NASA Centers, including Component Facilities.
b. For the purpose of this NPG, the term employee encompasses the definitions under 5 USC Section 8101(1)(A)(B).
