ESDU 89003 1989-MAR-01 Thermophyscal propertes of benzene Part thermodynamc propertes at elevated pressures
ESDU 89003 provides data for the thermodynamic properties of benzene along the saturation line, and in the single phase vapour and supercritical regions. The temperature range covered is from 290 K to 650 K for pressures up to 7 MPa. This Item complements and extends the information for the saturation line, ideal gas and the dilute gas available in ESDU 89002. The tables were generated from a single Helmholtz energy function or Equation of State from which all thermodynamic properties, at saturation as well as in the single phase were obtained by appropriate mathematical manipulation. In this way thermodynamically consistent sets of tables were obtained. The function itself was determined empirically by data fitting to experimental pvT, enthalpy and saturated liquid heat capacity data. Specific volumes, compression factors, enthalpies, entropies, isobaric and isochoric heat capacities are tabulated at saturation, and along isobars at various temperatures in the single phase. Accuracies associated with interpolation are discussed and conversion factors to facilitate use of the tables in British units are included. A computer-generated temperature-entropy chart is available from ESDU on request. A full bibliography is given of the data sources consulted.
