This specification covers vulcanized synthetic rubber gasket materials of nominal 50 and 65 durometer hardness.

Gasket materials are furnished in the following types and classes, as specified (see 6.2).

Type I - Nominal 50 durometer hardness

Class 1 - Oil resistant (chloroprene polymer)

Class 2 - Non-oil resistant (styrene-butadiene copolymer)

Class 3 - Phosphate ester resistant (isoprene-isobutylene copolymer)

Class 5 - Fuel resistant (acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer)

Type II - Nominal 65 durometer hardness

Class 1 - Oil resistant (chloroprene polymer)

Class 2 - Non-oil resistant (styrene-butadiene copolymer)

Class 3 - Phosphate ester resistant (isoprene-isobutylene copolymer)
