The standard describes a method of assessing the abrasive wear resistance of rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics using the Taber abrader. The abrasive wear is the progressive loss of material from the abraded surface resulting from the cutting and scratching action of an abrasive wheel. In Part 2 of this standard the Martindale abrader is used.
