This specification covers a digital current and ampere-hour meter (AHM) system for a submarine or surface ship storage battery circuit.

Metering systems shall be of the following classes and types as specified (see 6.2).

Classes shall be determined by the application and shall be as follows:

Class I - Submarine application, TRIDENT, SSN 688 and SSN 637 - with ampere display suppressed

Class II - Surface ship application - with ampere display operating

Type shall be determined by the shunt rating values. Types shall be as follows:

Type 0 - 2,000 amp/100 mV shunt/50 µohm

Type I - 2,500 amp/100 mV shunt/40 µohm

Type II - 3,000 amp/100 mV shunt/33.33 µohm

Type III - 4,000 amp/100 mV shunt/25 µohm

Type IV - 5,000 amp/100 mV shunt/20 µohm

Type V - 8,000 amp/100 mV shunt/12.5 µohm

Type VI - 10,000 amp/100 mV shunt/10 µohm
