Project 25 digital radio systems may support, as a standard option, a set of data communications bearer services. This document defines the radio management protocols and associated messages for use in land mobile digital radio systems. Although the document has been written to specify the radio management protocols and associated messages to be used in Project 25 digital radio systems as defined in [17], and related documentation, it may also be applied to other land mobile digital radio systems.

The radio management protocols defined in this standard support the following capabilities as defined in [2]:

• Support of PPP or SLIP on the MDP to MRC link

• Support of USB or RS-232 on the MDP to MRC link

• Support of Radio Control Protocol (RCP) on the MDP to MRC link

• Support of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) on the MDP to MRC link

Radio Control Protocol (RCP)

This document defines, as a standard option, the Radio Control Protocol (RCP) for use in land mobile digital radio systems. Although the document has been written to specify the Radio Control Protocol to be used in Project 25 radio systems as defined in the Project 25 Systems and Standards Definition [17] and related documentation, it may also be applied to other land mobile digital radio systems.

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

This document defines, as a standard option, the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for use in land mobile digital radio systems. Although the document has been written to specify the Simple Network Management Protocol to be used in Project 25 radio systems as defined in the Project 25 Systems and Standards Definition [17] and related documentation, it may also be applied to other land mobile digital radio systems.
