NACE RP0395 1999-OCT-22 Fuson-Bonded Epoxy Coatng of Steel Renforcng Bars-tem No 21071
This standard defines the requirements for fusionbonded epoxy powder coatings applied by electrostatic spray or other suitable method to deformed and plain steel reinforcing bars that are intended to be capable of postfabrication. This standard includes requirements and guidelines for ordering, cleaning, coating, inspecting, handling, transporting, and installing the reinforcing bars.
Requirements for fusion-bonded epoxy powder coatings and patching materials are given in Appendix A.
The coating applicator is identified throughout this standard as the manufacturer.
NOTE: Research has shown that the performance of epoxy-coated steel reinforcing bars is greatly enhanced when all of the steel reinforcing bars in the bridge deck or other reinforced concrete structure in areas of possible corrosion activity, anode, and/or cathode sites, are coated. Uncoated steel reinforcing bars that connect into an area of coated steel reinforcing bars should also be electrically isolated from the coated steel reinforcing bars.
