Rationale—Through years of effort to harmonize the SAE and ISO documents, SAE J551-12 and SAE J551-13 are technically identical with their ISO counterparts. To keep SAE out of copyright difficulties, we are adopting the ISO documents by reference in SAE J551-1 and cancelling SAE J551-12 and SAE J551-13 documents.
