This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, and forging stock.

Application:

These products have been used typically for nuts and other parts requiring both corrosion and heat resistance up to 1500 °F (816 °C), but usage is not limited to such applications. At comparable elevated temperatures, the strength of this steel is slightly higher than, and the oxidation resistance is similar to, 18Cr - 8Ni type steels. It is not recommended for use when welding is involved.
